Current president of the Property Owners Association of NSW and also an executive committee member of the property management chapter of the Real Estate Institute of NSW. John is approached regularly by the media and government departments to give his opinion about proposed legislative changes that may affect property owners.He has been involved in lobbying & shaping legislation reform on state level with a goal of keeping a well balanced playing field inside of the property industry.
From a young age John's dad who was a Sydney trades person, had him getting into overalls, roll up his sleeves to paint & transform his dad's rental property's on weekends to make some pocket money.Good old hard labour included gardening,paving,stripping kitchens and bathrooms to transform the look and feel of not only some family property but also some of john's dad's clients.At the ripe age of 19 John joined his fathers painting and decorating company full time but this was not his real calling or passion.
John's own property journey started at the ripe age of 21 when he saved his pocket money and invested in his first rental property in the Sydney suburb of Kensington. He saw the potential in property investing and entered the real estate industry as an apprentice in 1991.He further educated himself by participating in a 3 year part time real estate licensing course whilst working full time in the industry and was awarded the full real estate license under the supervision of his then mentor who owned his own portfolio of over 30 inner city properties that John managed for him.
Recipient of numerous agency awards including leasing, business development & property management within several major franchise groups John's passion and desire to succeed did not stop there.John was appointed as a team leader in Australia's first ever publicly listed property management company that had 14,000 investment properties under management in 3 different states.He was licensee in charge of one of the Sydney based branch offices.A former state and national property management consultant and skills trainer to the largest real estate franchise group in Australasia, with experience in the challenges of start up through to large scale business multi hub operations.
John enjoys the rapidly evolving technology that has entered the property management industry and has been approached on numerous occasions by tech companies to consult on new and innovative service applications that provide more efficiency and streamlines processes for property managers,tenants,tradespeople and landlords.He focuses strongly on building relationships within the property industry with the end result of delivering exceptional service & value to his clients to give them confidence & knowledge to expand their wealth through property investing.
John is very passionate about lobbying for fairness and equality in legislation, defining and setting higher standards for the industry and has made several submissions to government departments on matters such as residential tenancies, strata, retail and the building and construction sectors.He adheres to the highest standards of professional practice in accordance with the Code of Conduct of the Real Estate Institute of NSW & Office of Fair Trading guidelines for real estate agency business.
Married with two children and living in the inner west, John likes to get involved in the spirit of community's and uses his auctioneer skills to raise funds for charity organisations.
